Thanks. An F-4 pilot told me it was 600 lbs and I thought he was kidding. I guess he was.
I think 600 lbs. is probably closer to the correct answer- the "42" is an old joke around here when people ask seemingly random questions.
This F-4 hook thing has got to be the strangest threadjack I've seen in a while... was there any particular reason you chose a 57-page foreign policy thread to pose your question?

In AOCS the drill instructors had a tailhook for some airplane in their office as a weapon of instruction, and penance meant doing many exercises with it. Definitely not 600 LBs.
Given @mad dog record of EMI and demerits in AOCS, I suspect the tail hook was presented to him as a AOC.

I’d buy your thoughts about Trump, and I do think Elon is probably a dead man walking working with that administration……they always are eventually.
To the last point, I didn’t say they were knowingly approving of russia or Putin. They absentmindedly regurgitate his talking points that they pick up off some random social media post that kinda sounds right to them, given who it is coming from. It is a human condition, unrelated to political affiliation, but one that seems to become more acute every year.
