I’m more interested in defense contracting. And that’s coming from someone who started flying with the intention of making it to majors eventually😭😭.

I’ve thought about doing humanitarian aid flying stuff after the navy if I can get selected. Would be badass being in other parts of the world that way and helping folks out.

I have about 10 in the log book with CFIs. I was considering going for my PPL: I was advised that due to Naval Aviation being so unique, adding more GA time may not tip the scale, could possibly burn in bad habit patterns that would need broken later. Certainly can't hurt if anyone is on the fence, plus it is tremendous fun! I mostly started flying just to confirm that I enjoy flying.

That’s badass. I did mine on G-1000 but my instructor at the time made sure did “green needle” VOR stuff for unpublished holds and all that 6 pack stuff. His philosophy was also to crash out if I did anything wrong. The flying in instrument is awesome. The ground stuff is incredibly annoying to memorize but it’s actual ground knowledge that’s applicable to flying for once. I got approval to do my instrument before time building since I’m 141 so I had to learn the avionics and instrument stuff once. If my dumbass could do it, it’ll be no sweat for you🙏

Thank you, the flying makes the ground school worth it though. Popping out of the clouds on the way down to the runway after being in IMC for a while is super rewarding. I've done everything through a part 61 school which is nice, but I'm ready for more structure and nicer aircraft. Just gotta deal with it for now though 😢

Ya part 141 has its perks like in house examining authority for certificates, but nice avionics aircraft makes for less skilled pilots. I did my private in a 172 6 pack, instrument in the G-1000, and now I do my commercial stuff in a 152. The 152s are the least nice plane we have but they’re the most fun. Wait till you get a chance to do spins sometime. One of my CFIs also did an aileron roll in one🤣 we do not have aerobatic rated 152s either, just spin rated.
