Here comes the ass-pain.

Step one: https://nesd-dwp.onbmc.mil (With CAC and CAC reader)

Step two: Get ticket

Step three: Call Navy Enterprise Service Desk 1-833-637-3669

Step four: [coming soon]

Posting as a community service as I did not see other thread.

What is this post supposed to mean? Are you having trouble accessing? I have good luck with just using webmail.apps.mil and you can log in with either your CAC, or your password+authenticator (if you've set that up).

It's the latter, password + authenticator. Had not set up. There was a December 2024 deadline I missed the word on.

So is it going to be that we now need to use Microsoft Authenticator every time we login? I wonder why physical CAC+ password isn't good enough anymore. What if you can't get to your personal phone or you can't get on a network? (Been there before.)

Hopefully this helps someone else who is running into any new FlankSpeed thing. I didn't see another thread here on the update.

This helped me out a lot:

Reddit: Passkey Fix / How-To

It seems like now though you need a CAC + Passkey to access FlankSpeed based on the documentation posted on the FlankSpeed hub. Which if true is a huge bummer. I'm at least able to log on with my laptop plus CAC and passkey, but anytime I try to use my password and passkey it throws an error.

In my experience, if you're at home (i.e. not on an NMCI machine) you need CAC+PIN+passkey.

On base, you need CAC+password now.

DAF had implemented O365 access on any browser/computer with CAC +PIN; no root certificate required. This is huge for Reservists. DAF is piloting 0365 on BYO/personally owned smartphones this year.

Previously we were just accessing outlook from home via webmail.apps.mil with a CAC and no authenticator or passkey needed. Now it’s needed. Caught many of us off guard.

The bigger problem is that it seems to kill the ability to sign into FS on your phone (which a lot of us were doing via password + Authenticator) which was huge on TAD or if you weren't near a computer.

Dude. Get on the Nautilus virtual desktop wagon. Won’t have to worry about browser config issues ever again and can access NMCI only domains like SHARP and FIST from home.
DAF is calling it Horizon Desktop - a virtual environment desktop from any PC/MAC/iPad. If you need full NIPR and dont want the hassle of a registered laptop to lug around its great!

Oddly enough, I previously was an extensive NVD user, but haven’t been able to get back on since activating the passkey for webmail, NSIPS and such. It’s like the temporary removal of using Authenticator for NVD and making it CAC only for awhile bricked it for me.

The new requirement for remote NVD/Flankspeed access is:
- A computer running windows 11
- New-ish smartphone running iOS18+ or Android 14+
- Passkey app with an active Bluetooth connection between your phone and computer.

If you didn’t already set these up prior to 8 Jan, then you have to call the helpdesk to be able to do it now.

Mac and NVD are awesome for telework, especially in the reserves. iPhone and the various apps they make you install now, meh, might not bother with those once I get back from MOB.
