I actually suspect this is just some type of negotiating tactic. Pete Hegseth has made his name as an advocate for veterans and both he and I believe Trump have advocated for a bigger military. I know one thing, rightly or wrongly, they are taking aim at is the "woke" stuff in the military.

Lol and just who are they supposed to be negotiating with?

Congress (both parties). Certain progressives might like it, but even they will not be very inclined to do anything to support Trump, even if it means supporting the military-industrial complex for four years.

Eight days later, Elmstrom was fired for “performance.”

“This whole thing has just been a bundle of uncertainty,” he said. “It’s very disorganized. I feel like they’re just making it up as they go.”

Amid the confusion, at least one probationary employee has been fired twice, from a post at the Small Business Administration.

First, she was mistakenly fired on a Friday, then reinstated on a Monday, according to emails she provided to The Post.
..Twenty-four hours later, she checked her email to find she was fired again — effective within an hour.

One thing is clear... China just got a boner. Of course, Congress will get a vote, so none of this will come to pass. I hope SECDEF likes 40% less GFM force providers.
Congress is going to override his veto in the very first appropriations bill, just like they did toward the end of his last term when he tried to kill 2x carriers.

Then Trump will turn around and tell everyone how great it is because he wanted everything that's in it.

Exactly. Too many people only hear Trump’s bark but forget his need to always be right…even when he caught.
