OCS 11AUG25 IWC BOARD // Nerd Thunderdome 2025

Might be the longest wait for the IWC board results...at least that I know of

I think the 7 November 2022 Intel board still holds that title (for a little while longer at least) – 67 days from flash to bang...just three days short of the 10 week mark. If that precedent holds for us, we'd be looking at a ~17 October release. Granted, that 2022 board had two federal holidays mixed in (and thus, a ton of days processors were likely out of the office), but I'd bet all the money in my pockets right now that this board's seen its own share of complicating factors (a surge in applications to review across IWC designators, changing PAs, shutdown shenanigans, and probably a host of other things the IWC is keeping close to its chest).

The 30NOV2020 IWC board didn't hear back until 01FEB2021, which is 63 days, the second longest. We're currently at 53 days which makes us the third longest.

If we hear later than the two longest boards, it would be October 13th and October 17th for us respectively.

Kinda dumb to say this, but I should’ve just applied last August right after taking my OAR for at least the other designators. 😂 Made the mistake of putting as much of an excuse when it comes to applying early. Another good lesson that life is rife with a lot of factors beyond our control and every moment is a test.

Ok gramps whatever…🤣😂

Definitely should have looked at applying to other designators as well. The good news is if this doesn't work out I can probably enlist in Navy Intel, apply for Air Force/Army Officer Intel, or do federal jobs.

Do we know any estimate on how many people applied for the different IWC designators versus their quotas for the Aug board?
I’m also regretting not applying to other designators, especially after this very long waiting game. Oh well, if this doesn’t work out I’ll see you guys again at the next IWC board 🤞

There's 145 applicants for Intel for our board, but I haven't seen the quota. I think who knows the quota would've already shared that information.

It seem generally that anyone between ~15 and 35 people get chosen, at least looking at the past several IWC boards. That's between 10% and 25% of applicants.

Dang that’s strict, sorry I was just asking because I’m not quite sure how public that information was. Way earlier in the thread I think someone said that they used to have some information related to it public but that changed a couple of years ago. I just wasn’t sure if anyone had any info from their OR. Thank you!

Can't speak for the AF side of things, but I can tell you the Army OCS route is definitely a gamble when it comes to nabbing a specific branch assignment. A ticket to OCS only gets you in the door, but no guaranteed specialty. Last I checked, the Order of Merit List (OML) compiled part-way through the training pipeline at Benning still governs much of your fate in terms of snagging your preferred branch. If you're not highly-ranked, you might get lucky and have a bunch of high-speeds at the top of your class who want that infantry officer life, but it's far more likely you'll see the intel and aviation spots get snatched up first (so you'll want to arrive prepared to crush the AFT, land nav, and academics – lest you end up the most "world history-learned" ordinance officer in this man's Army).
