DCO Supply Chances and Selections

He is talking about the community briefs/Values on My Navy HR. They can be insight into what the community looks for promotion wise. For Supply they do not mention DAWIA credentials. https://www.mynavyhr.navy.mil/Porta...unity_Briefs.pdf?ver=4E-DzF56ATxmbwfw5SsCGQ==

Are you a DOD civ with ability to get certified? If you are a civ in a acquisition billet and required to do CL points, I would make sure all my CL courses align towards getting additional certifications. That's what I did, even when I was only required to get level 2 in LCL, I still went and got level 3. Helped big time once I advanced on the civ side and was required to get level 3, I already had it. Last thing you want is to get advanced at work to a new position and then start doing all the DAU courses. I mean having a DAWIA cert certainly will not hurt your chances.

Let me just echo this sentiment. I didn't go the cargo route, I went the Seabee route. It has hurt me so much as most of the Captains now are mostly there from cargo. They all love cargo and severely look down on O3s going to board without cargo experience. I went Seabees because when I joined I was told it was either that or cargo and both would be viewed equally but THAT IS NOT TRUE. My wife is applying for DCO Supply this cycle and I've told her if she gets in, go Cargo early and often.
I’m looking back at these messages and feel like crying wolf. Lol. A TON of trauma bonding takes place in Cargo. But even after 3 years have passed, this is all true. Rewarding experience if you ask me.
