So is this a big deal, or is Drudge highlighting it in red for sensationalism? How many ships are in your average Carrier Strike Group? How often do we do ops with the Israelis?

1. If it is, then it shouldn't be discussed.

2. The press can speculate, but those in uniform should not.

3. You can go to any CSG website and see the assigned ships for yourself.

4. Ops with foreign countries go on all the time. Some are announced, some not due to sensitivites.

All this does is make me nostalgic. "Are you sure this DDG will fit? Okay, whatever, back to my 50 mount. Wait, carriers come through too?!?!? But there's sand everywhere!"

Stupid ditch. :D

Carriers fit just fine; however you can look over and down and all you see is sand at some points.

I always hated having to wrap all the aircraft in barrier paper prior to going through the ditch to make sure the sand stays out...
Then there's the mother of all FOD walkdowns following transit looking for stuff that could have been blown (or thrown) onto the deck...

Looking closely at the article I see nothing saying that we are working with the Israelis, just that the ships were going through at the same time. Could be more of a convenience thing on the Egyptian's part than anything else since the article says they shut the canal to allow the ships through.

And they always shut the canal for one way traffic.

That's standard.

Never done it so I didn't know, thanks. Either way the ships going through at the same time doesn't necessarily mean they were together, maybe they are just 'friends with benefits'. ;)

And what looks like an exercise could be a prelude to war. How can we tell the difference?

If we could, we still wouldn't be talking about it here, so what's the difference?

*cough, cough*
