I am applying for Crypto, Intel, and AMDO. I just took the ASTB and scored 54 6/6/6. My recruiter has told me that my score is competitive and there is no need to re-take the ASTB.
Do you agree with his opinion that I should proceed with compiling my package and submitting it for consideration? I feel like I could do better taking the ASTB again, since that was my first time around. I also feel that if I'm going to apply, I should submit the highest score possible.
If I apply now and am turned down, I think I have to wait 6 months before re-applying. It might mean a slightly longer delay in submitting my app, but it might be worth it. What do you think?
Just for kicks, my other stats are: MA in International Relations, GPA 3.7 (undergrad) 3.45 (postgrad). No military connections, but applied and accepted to CG Academy 7 years ago (turned down offer because I wasn't ready). I am also the child of immigrants, both parents are now naturalized citizens.
Also, when does the SF86 come into play in determining your board results? Doesn’t it take a long time to complete a background investigation?
Thanks in advance!
