A bad sign, maybe?

Hi guys,

A couple weeks ago, I went to the Marines.com site, and filled out the "Request More Info" portion of the site.

Today, I received a nice looking piece of mail (crumpled somewhat by the postman) from the Marines, inside which there were two 3 items.

1.) A spiffy booklet explaining much about the meaning of the Marine Corps, various PLCs, and general information.

2.) A letter from the commander of recruiting saying "Thanks for asking for information," basically.

and

3.) A post-card type thing for me to pass to a friend who might be interested in the Marine Corps.

All well and good, right? Well, nowhere in the mailing was there a listing for how I could contact a recruiter. No addresses, no names, no phone numbers. Nothing.

Any of you gentlemen happen to have any contacts in the Denver/Boulder/Colorado Springs area? I'd like to get into contact with a recuiter to see about potentially putting in a package for the Marines as well.

I'll have more questions about the Marine process soon, for now though, I'd like to know if the omission of recruiter contact info is maybe a bad sign? A point of contact wouldn't hurt either though

After i did as much research as i could about the process of applying, i simply called up the nearest recruiting station (which is in the mall in my home town) and asked who was the nearest OSO and how i could get in touch with him.

There was no poc info in mine either--it's normal as its a 1 size-fits-all form letter. But no worries, sometime after I received my letter, they contacted me. If all else fails--white pages, my friend. That's what they're there for.

Same thing happened to me as what Slasher said. It was a while between when I received the info and when the recruiter contacted me. I called the enlisted recruiting office and they had the contact info for the nearest OSO.

If you're still having a problem finding it, I have the phone number for the Denver OSO. Got his business card when he was over at CU about a year ago. Send me a PM, and I'll get you the number.

I guess I just figured the recruiting stations listed in the phone book were enlisted only. Oh well, I suppose I've got the resources to find who I need to talk to now :)

Thanks much,

~Nate

When I did that I got the packet of info too, but actully a couple of days before that I got a call from my nearest officer recruter too. I got the call before the packet. I thought that the info they get from the site they send on to the nearest recruting offices.

Dairy,

When did you make the switch to looking at the USMC rather than the Navy?

Nate, the current OSO in your region is Captain Jones. The other marine that could get you information on PLC is Gunnery Sergeant Robinson. I'm from Denver so if you have any Q's let me know. Their office is in the Tivoli at Metro State in Denver. Don't have their number, but if you look in the yellow pages for Metro State, they will connect you to the OSO's office.

Well, I'm just keeping my options open really. May as well not shut any doors before I figure out which one is best to step into :)
