AD Air Force to Navy OCS

Hey everyone
So I'm active duty in the Air Force and I want to pursue a commission with the Navy as an intel officer. If anyone's been in the similar situation, my question's the following... how do I justify to my leadership getting the DD368 signed and more importantly, how do I convince my CO to write a letter of recommendation? lol

I realize that some people have made it through this path but I would really like to hear some stories and even see some samples of those LORs if possible. When I think of it in my head, I feel it comes across like "....yeah, sign the conditional release form cause I wanna get out of here and join a different branch.... oh and by the way, sign this LOR saying you endorse my admission to OCS..."

My fear is that it's gonna come across like I just want to commission and that I don't care about the Air Force. I like to think of the big picture, as in we're all one military and we work for the same people... but I doubt my leadership sees it that way.

The people that were AD other service that were applying for OCS had somewhat easy time, some due to age couldn't commission in the service they were in, others wanted to experience parts of the military that service didn't offer, why do you want to go to USN OCS and not AF OCS?

If you are applying to Intel be aware they want tech degrees and high GPA, the selection rate is also low around 10%

I too am active duty enlisted Air Force and I went through a similar situation. Honestly, it was quite easy. That being said, I did have a senior enlisted member in my shop somewhat guide me but even that is not necessary. Basically, I submitted a request up to the Commander to have a meeting with him stating that I wished to commission in the U.S. Navy and not only would like the DD368 signed but also his recommendation. A meeting was scheduled and it was rather casual in nature and revolved around him asking me basic questions on why I wanted to join. Essentially, I informed him that I enjoyed being in the limited leadership role that I am now (I'm an E-5) and that I wished to take on a greater challenge and serve my country in a greater capacity. I was given an opportunity with my college to pursue an OCS application and jumped on it. Needless to say, he signed the DD368 and wrote me an excellent LOR.
