Age difference between 1420.1B and Program Authorization

Hello all,

I'm an active duty AG1 and I'm looking to submit an OCS package for OCEANO/1800. In the OPNAV instruction, it states the max age is 35, yet in the Program Authorization it states 42. The reason I ask is that I turn 33 this year and I PCS this fall, so I'm in a time crunch. I'm kicking myself for not applying sooner but I wanted to gain some enlisted experience.

So which instruction is correct? I'm assuming the one with the most publication date.

Thank you all.

@NavyOffRec, this is a question for a buddy of mine who is an AD GM1, with almost ten years of service. He wants to apply for SWO but turns 31 in Dec. With his AD time will they allow him to commission last 31 or is 31 the absolute cutoff?

He is pretty much done, maybe if he had an application right now he would have a slim chance of getting commissioned by age 31 but he won't make it and they won't go past 31

That's what we were thinking. He's just waiting on his CO endorsement and release date so that he can submit it, hopefully next week. Hopefully he can make this next SWO board, whenever that may be.
