First time poster. After a lot of consideration for the third time in my life, I'm jumping into the OCS process for SNA. Issue is that I'm almost 26.5 y/o (turn 27 at end of November) and I know that time is running quickly for me to do this. I talked with the OR last week, and he told me that with a current pilot shortage (not sure the validity of this statement) and a competitive ASTB score (~50s+ 5+/5+/5+ is what he said) that he could probably get me an age waiver even as a non-prior enlisted. I just wanted to gauge if this would be a quite possible. I understand that the rules currently are for enlisted ONLY, but doing some research on here, it did seem that there were other posters prior that were able to secure an age waiver as non-prior. Just wanted to see the process and likelihood in my case. Also, let's say in this reality that I am eligible and receive it, where in the process does this come into play? I don't want to throw my company under the bus since I hold a key supervisory position (work in advertising/entertainment industry) so I want to make sure I can give them ample notice if/when I see the light. I really don't want to cram studying for the ASTB, but I see the clock running. I feel I'm otherwise competitive in my application with a 3.657 GPA and holding several leadership roles from high school through my current career.
