I did search for this and it seems like this is a timing issue so...

Has anyone here recently recieved, or heard of someone recieving an age waiver past the 29/31 year old cut off? When I say recently I am thinking the last 6 months. I am currently enlisted, 30 years old and wanting to apply NFO. The only thing is I turn 31 in October and my application will not be submitted until July.

Thanks for the help

I was reading http://www.projo.com/extra/2008/ocs/stories/day1.html earlier...and saw this portion talking about one of the Candidates for officers...

At 28, Cole is almost too old to pursue his chosen specialty — surface warfare. The cut-off is 29, and Cole would be given an additional two years since he’s been in the Navy. Still, he’s brimming with confidence.

Since your currently enlisted, I imagine the additional 2 years works for you as well? So you should be good until your 33 right?

No, the 31 age is already w/ a (4?) year waiver from that of the civilian age limit.

I just was pro req'd for NFO in the June boards. I turn 31 in November. 32 is the age waiver for active duty personnel. It's a month for month waiver.

I applied for OCS in January with a waiver request for SWO 'cause I will be 31 on June 5. I got selected and will report to OCS on 28 September. Shoot me a private mail for further discussion. Oh lest I forget, I have been in for 11 years (AD1)

Thank you for the responses. I heard of some getting the waiver by knowing someone in Millington or DC. I have the school of thought that everything is waiverable if qualified, so I will push for it. Is there something the CO can put in his statement that will influence the selection board to approve a waiver? Something besides the basic stellar feller statement? Actually, is the waiver something that is approved at the selection board, or is it approved in PERS?
