I'm a flight contract and a little over half way done with TBS. If I get "volentold" to train with the Air Force does that limit me to Vance AFB with the T-37 or do Marines go to Moody with the T-6. As far as I can tell, Vance still trains with the T-37. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the T-37, but I'm just curious as to where I'll be in 6 months and what I could be flying. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Marines don't go to Moody, and it looks like Vance will be flying the Tweet for at least as long as it takes for you to get down here.

Cheers

Vance is switching to the T-6. I heard a Rumor that the last class to train in the tweet is classing up in april. Not sure though, someone at vance would probably know more. However, Moody is eventually closing off for Navy pilots, the last SNA's will class up in october '05.

By the time you finish TBS and API (a couple of months I assume) Vance might be an all T-6 show.
My Advice, Try and Stay on the Navy/Marine side of the house.

You think you hate it now...
I had dinner with a college roommate last night who's at OTS right now...he reports to Vance the first week of April and he said the same thing about Vance getting the T-6.

Thanks for the advice. i think I can pretty much count on going to the Air Force because when I was in college I was under the impression that a little flight experience(100+ hours) would help me in the Navy flight training program. I guess I was wrong. I'm still going to push to train on the Navy side. Thanks again.

Just out of curiosity since I am from Oklahoma... what airframe are Marines who go through Vance training for? How long is the section of training at Vance?

I just left Vance and it is primary for all the Marine pipelines, and they are transitioning to the T-6. However, my roommate at TBS had his commericial multiengine rating and 300+ hours and he still went to Corpus for T-34s. At least as recently as a year ago all that P'cola cared about was where you ranked in your TBS class: Top Tier = Vance.

hey ZGextreme, I am also from Oklahoma, just wondering where in Oklahoma you might be from. I am currently waiting on the 189/190 board to meet in April to decide. Air Contract

From Edmond. EASing and moving home in a couple of months. Going to do my General ED classes at UCO then move up to Stillwater and major in Aviation Sciences so I can get some flight time.

Ok

Originally from a small town in Eastern Oklahoma called Heavener. I lived the past two years in Tulsa, OK, graduated from OK. State in Tulsa. My degree is in Aviation Sciences, I did manage to get a private pilot's license out of the deal. I am also currently a crew chief on the F-16's in the 138th fighter wing based there in Tulsa. Hoping to soon be crossing over to become an officer and pilot in the Marine Corps.
