Hey all, this is a message to gauge whether or not any of the NRD Philadelphia applicants who got pro rec y have spoken with or otherwise gotten in touch with lt smith regarding MEPS and other steps. Has anyone heard anything since last Monday?

He called me yesterday. I relocated to Jacksonville, NC and thus have been going through the process at Camp Lejeune, which Smith was cool with. I've already had my vision test and labs done and scheduled my physical for tomorrow. I wasn't able to get a hold of him in regards to scheduling the drug test, which is the only thing that can't be done on base but the Navy is supposed to pay for. I'm going to be blowing his phone about it all day tomorrow, as that is one of the last things I need to worry about.

FIFY. Might as well start learning all "the right stuff" now...

Since it's been about 2 weeks, I thought I'd check in to see if anyone from Philly has heard anything. I got an email from Smith today saying that all my paperwork/lab results/whatever have been submitted and the next step should be getting my FS and taking the oath of office. No idea on how long that might all take, though.

Anyone else have news?

I have been PQ and had JPAS opened since I submitted my packaged and my letter is still "awaiting signature".

Ok, now I'm a little irked. I had to call him yesterday because he still isn't getting on top of MEPS. I have the paperwork. He told me he's waiting to hear back from the facility regarding a date. He also said I have until the 15th of September when he originally said I have until the 30th of August. Is there any other way I can get to MEPS on my own and suit the paperwork? I'm starting to get a little worried at this point...

I'm in NRD Philly closer to Baltimore, not pro-rec'd yet but I did my medical before my board at WRNNMC in Bethesda, MD. I realize that's a major hike for anyone in PA/NJ, but if MEPS is totally stacked up and you don't want to go to a contracted private doc, it might be worth the trip to DC just to get it done. You'll still need to work through your recruiter to get base access and an initial appointment, though.

I would also ask about the private doc option - you'll have to pay for it (around $120 IIRC), but my OR said Concentra was one of the approved providers. Google Maps says there are a few locations in the Philadelphia area.
