Any suggestions for a Marine OC who has graduated OCS and finished his degree (i.e. ready for commission) but was just diagnosed with asthma at MEPS after failing the methacholine challenge? I was told that it is non-waiverable, but after all I've been through, I'm not ready to accept no for an answer. I've already searched the forum for posts on this subject. I'd appreciate a response from anyone with experience or inside info.

Go to your personal physician and take the methacholine challenge again. Do it again with a different physician. Do it one more time with a different physician. If you pass all these attempts then you have enough ammo to take back to your OSO and get a second chance at MEPS. I know somebody who joined after getting 5 different physicians and specialists to confirm he was misdiagnosed, this after living his entire life thinking he had asthma. You'll have to get a BUMED waiver, which takes alot of time, but it is possible. Good luck.

I had a friend who was real far into the army helicopter program when they finally diagnosed him with asthma.... he would always kick some major butt though on the physical stuff even with the asthma so they overlooked it... i suppose with a waiver.
