The report did not identify any of the Air Canada crew by name. Nor did it specify the psychiatric diagnosis for the co-pilot, who was hospitalized for 11 days in Irish mental wards before being flown by air ambulance back to Canada.

Sign me up!!!! This sounds like a euphamism for two weeks of drinking Irish Whiskey, smoking, and watching soccer.

^I could run in so many directions with this story but I just have the deflating "Otto" pilot scene from the movie Airplane running through my head. :D

Nah, just kidding. I thought the report of the story I saw was hilarious when the reporter said the FA landed the plane. I immediately waved the BS flag.

A few years ago we had an FO that was quickly stricken with food poisoning and was going in and out of consciousness. The FA's took him to the back to receive medical treatment from a doctor while one of the FA's sat in the right seat during the divert. The Captain flew and talked on the radio but had the FA read checklists at his direction.

Apparently this FA has a commercial ticket so would hope they were more use than just reading checklist. Doubt the Capt let them land though!

No I was hoping you were going to say " I am serious, and don't call me Shirley"...since you were referring to Airplane.

I'm disappointed.
