API study time

What's the average daily study time in API. I'm betting on spending 4 hours each day during the week and 8 hours a day on Saturdays and Sundays in addition to classroom time.

My history-major roommate put in 2-3 hours a night (not every night) and he was fine.

2-4 hours a night on basics of API thread.

Maybe, maybe not. He'll have to find out for himself. Some of us bottom-feeders need that kind of time; others don't need to study at all.

It is always better to overstudy then understudy, especially for those first few tests...

Remember the same thing applies to API as everything else. Quality studying is much better than quantity studying. Studying for 36 hours a week seems a bit much to me. OK, its bat-sh!t crazy. Get a decent group together and you shouldn't require much more than 2 to 3 hours per test (total, not per day). Of course that also depends on your abilities. Just remember to take free time for yourself. Don't burn out in API, there is still a lot left to do, and (at least as of OCT 2004) the API grades don't really mean anything, anyway.

I have done the "quantity studying" thing and all it does it make everything turn into a fog of confusion and anger.

The only person who can tell you how much to study or not is you. By now we've all gotten bachelor's degrees and have theoretically done lots of studying in our lifetimes. It seems unrealistic to set a number goal on the hours of studying you want to do. Study until you know the material or you can't see straight and you start to dream about aero 2, whichever comes first. That said, everyone I talk to who studies in groups says it's the way to go, so I'd definitely do that.
