For my security clearance application it makes you enter your supervisor's name for employment history. What if I don't remember their names? I can't just leave it blank.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Any way to contact the company or organization and figure out who your supervisor was? If there's no company to query...e.g., you were hired by that person directly, don't be afraid to say "I Cannot Recall", and give them a note somehow about the name and address of the company, etc. No shame in remembring someone's name...

Depending on where you work, they might have a human resources department. I had to call them for the exact dates that I worked at Starbucks and they just looked me up and told me. It was actually a lot less painful than I thought it would be. I had a similar problem, I just asked my recruiter and she said to put whatever information I can (I put room #405 as the home address of one of my professors). You can also ask your recruiter :)

The point is - make an effort to track the info down and put down whatever you can find. They don't expect that you remember the name of your Deep Fryer Supervisor from years back, but give them something to work with.

Even if you can't find out who it was exactly get the information of another higher up you knew or the current manager. Atleast then your showing that you did research and whoever reviews the app has a place to start. If all else fails or the company went under and you dont remember names I was told to put "DNK" (Do Not Know) by my recruiter. I believe I had to fill out info for approx 25 jobs in the past 7 years so I got to know that section of the app very well. Don't ask how I ended up with that many jobs :icon_wink.

Give the contact information of Human Resources--even if it's someone different working there now than when you worked there. HR keeps records so they will be able to verify that you worked there. My former supervisors had since left from two of my old jobs, but contacting HR did the trick.
