Argentine sub missing off Patagonia

BBC reports Argie sub San Juan missing, possibly down off Patagonia.

For now the Arg Navy is saying they just haven’t heard from the sub. But there are apparently a lot of units looking for the boat, including a NASA P-3.

I’ve read a few pieces lately to the effect that the Argentine military is essentially shut down for lack of funds. I’d hate to count on sub safety programs in a bankrupt Navy...

No, this was back in 1992 - UNITAS 33-92, Beartrap deployment with HSL-48 and USS San Jacinto ( CG-56).

Interestingly if Gerries will offer their help for raising the boat from the bottom. If the fatal blow was linked to a new batteries installed by Siemens AG, as it'd been reported, it is wise for them to take care, I think. While the poor maintenance in ABC navies is not unheard of, this disaster may have relation to new electric technologies that Siemens boasts clear and loud...
