Assuming I make July Board..

Hey all, first post around here, so I apologize ahead of time for any rookie mistakes. Here's my question - I know that there is no OCS in July because (I assume) of the move to Rhode Island. Well July is when I hope to get in front of my board. Is there a que starting for people who are being pushed back to August? I guess what I mean is; if I do get accepted and given a date, is it likely to be relatively soon (August), or am I looking at sometime much later in the year (like Nov/Dec)? Thanks for any info.

Good question... I'd like to know about the May board as well. RI is going to be cold.

RI won't be cold in August. Might even be as warm as P-cola, and there will probably be geese to sh!t all over everything. It starts getting really cold around early November.

Yeah you won’t have to wait long. OCS starts up in RI around August 1st (at least from what I’ve been told.) Sounds like we’re in the same boat. I am looking forward to the nice weather though. Should be really beautiful and I hear there is some good scuba diving there too?!?! Good luck with your selection.

Cold...

I don't know about you guys, but I would much rather work my butt off in the cold rather than the hot... I'm debating when to call the recruiter and find out if I was selected in the May board which apparently happened Friday.

I told them I was available the earliest of September 15th, so we'll see what all goes down.

Thats crazy that they still have room at the June OCS class.. I would have thought that class would be full by now...

Good luck htj..

I am submitting at the end of next week.

Yeah I’ve had the same thoughts regarding Pcola and RI… it would be much nicer not having to worry about the Florida summer heat. When should SNA applicants hear about the selection this past Friday? I put down June 28th so I might still be headed to Pcola for OCS if they’re short.

Thats weird that you guys can pick classes... Enlisted guys just find out and then go. no questions asked

I wouldn't call it picking, you just put down the first day you're available and they put you where they need you...... they're just short for the June classes since they are doubling up in prep for the month off.

For pilots and NFOs, "applications will only be considered if available for OCS within 18 months unless applying for BDCP."

So do you think that applicants could get picked up pretty quickly if available for transfer immediately?

In regards to the RI over Pcola issue - it sucks for me because I LIVE in Pensacola. I grew up in Panama City, just two hours east. I'm just worried that I'll get submitted by July and not hear back until Sept. or Oct. That would totally suck. And on top of that, I'm a pilot hopeful, and that means I'll go from Pcola, to RI, back to Pcola if everything goes as planned.

Dude, its not like you are going to be hanging out at home for OCS. They're going to put you on a plane (paid for) fly you to OCS, where you will be focusing on a short but intense indoctrination, and then flying you (once again paid for) back to P-cola. Who cares where it is, its only 3 months! As long as its not in death valley or the North Pole, what does it matter where it is?
