ASTB at API?

I was reading the syllabus and I noticed that the ASTB is on there during the first week. Are we taking it again once we get there?

I can't speak for the last few weeks (I have been in API), but when I was in A-pool they were making us take some personality test type things that were supposed to be used in developing the new ASTB. There is also some part where we had to go use a computer that tested our dexterity/skill with flight controls (control stick and throttle). Another part of the test involved determining what direction your UAV (yes, UAV) was approaching a target from for a bomb run or something of the sort.

Sounds like a new one is coming on the horizon

Did they mention any timetable for when this was likely to come debut?

Today we were told that the future ASTB testing program that srqwho is referring to would be ending soon. It was even clarified that it would be ending within the time we are here in Pcola.

But don't take that statement to mean that there'll be a new ASTB test coming out soon. I have no clue about that one way or another.

Just taking it once in API isn't bad compared to what we had to do in A-Pool over a year ago. We were required to go in at least two or three times per week to take all the versions of the each part of the "new" exam. I took each of the math, mechanical, and reading comprehension tests at least twice, and I took the same personality test so many times that I started making up different personalities.

So, taking it once in API? Doesn't sound too bad to me... :)

We didn't take it and I'm almost done with API.

I also did the new spacial apperception stuff, and the reaction stuff with the stick and PCL. What really took the cake though was taking about 12 or 15 biographical inventories. I learned a lot about myself that morning.

i think they must have realized that all of their results were complete garbage. i remember doing 800-1000 questions per day sometimes and by the end your personality and your intelligence are completely different than they were when you started.

i had no problem and quite frankly sort of enjoyed doing like one test per day, but 800 questions in one sitting was just a waste of time and money attempting to prove a test with false data.

i still remember one question "True/False I sometimes put my hand in hot water to punish myself" -- you'd be surprised what answer you want to put down after the 11th time you got that particular question and had already answered 800 other questions.

As in, we started it slightly annoyed that we had to sit through it and 1100 questions later we wanted to eat our own stomachs with sharpened chopsticks?

Cause that's about what I was feeling...

Haha, yeah it was awful... but I had a lot of fun telling the people who were just reporting to A-Pool that they had to pass all of the new ASTB tests or else they wouldn't class up for API... Hehehe ;)
