ASTB before junior year?

FormerRecruitingGuru

Making Recruiting Great Again
Throughout most of my time here at NROTC, i've always been told that you have to take your ASTB by the end of your junior year. However, just lately the Batallion Chain of Command told me that its been changed, to which you must take it before your junior year. Which one is right? Is it before your junior year or during your junior year?

Thanks alot!

The earlier the better...most kids around here take it for the first time in their sophomore or beginning of their jr year. Gives you more time to study up and retake if you shank the first try.

You can take it the day before you service select if you want. That said, yes it is better to do it sooner so you can retake as needed. You probably heard that because service selection takes place pretty early in the fall of your senior year, and most people go home for the summer (and can't take the test during that time period).
