ASTB for Aviation

Hi... I'm new here.:icon_tong

Anyway, I just took the ASTB and did pretty well.

AQR - 7
PFAR - 7
FOFAR - 7
OAR - 63

I know that the "what are my chances" questions are impossible to answer with accuracy, but I do have a question. Can a decent ASTB score make up for the lack of a technical degree when it comes to getting aviation as your specialty? I have an A.B. in PoliSci, and I'm thinking that not having a science or technical degree will give me a snowball's chance in hell of getting aviation. What say thee?

Thanks for reading.....

Yes, good ASTB scores can make up for a lack of a tech degree. Although the Navy has been saying for a while that it prefers technical degrees, it still accepts non-tech degree holders.

People are selected based on the whole person concept. Does big navy "prefer" technical degrees? Yes. So long as your gpa is decent and you don't have any moral deficiencies, you probably have a good shot. I've known far mor officers with liberal arts degrees than those that have a technical degree.....aviators, SWO's, SEAL's, etc. The only exception is that the vast majority of nukes have technical degrees (though they do have their share of liberal arts weenies too).

I am a liberal arts major (poli sci and history) and was picked up for SNA with an ASTB score the similar to yours (7/7/7/62).
