I am applying for supply officer and wondering if anyone knows if I have to take all the parts for the ASTB. I was reading and it sounded like one of the other supply guys said he only had to take the math, verbal and mechanical parts. Is this true? I am a finance major and just recently started looking at the Navy as a career. I don't know anything about Aviation and Nautical, so if I have to take those parts, what are the best study guides? Help, I am suppose to take the test in 2 weeks.

BDCP Supply
I got into supply in BDCP. My recruiter had me take all parts of the test just to see what I would score even though I only wanted to be supply.

what do you mean you got "into supply in BDCP?" I don't think my recruiter is giving me all the information so that is why I am trying to find out what really goes on. Sounds like even though I take all the parts of the test they don't really matter for supply?

I mean I was accepted into the bdcp program with a supply designator. I took all parts of the test, I guess to see If I was good enough for sna or nfo or anything else. Im sure i did bad on the flight stuff but i wasnt worried because i didnt want that..

If you have questions about BDCP check that forum, it has an explanation much better than I could provide in this post. Let me know if you have any more questions I could help with

So I shouldn't sweat to much about the "flight stuff" if I am not interested in that area?

Thanks for the information.

I wouldnt. I was in the same situation. Im a finance major and came across the bdcp program and the supply officer career. I studied the arco book for the flight stuff but didnt spend a lot of time on it. Also my recruiter ( a pilot) explained it a little bit.

I dont think that part of the test affects your OAR score which is what matters to get accepted for supply and other designators. Some others may know for sure

If I remember correctly, its an algorithm calculation of the first three sections of the ASTB, I believe they were math, mechanical, and reading comp. That is what makes up the AOR score. The aviation pipeline takes that into consideration, and then the aviation stuff. Basicly, AOR is the bread and butter, because that is what you are competing against.

I took the test last Monday and my recruiter also had me take just the first three sections. I too am going into Supply. Waiting is the hardest part.

So you only took the first 3 sections? You didn't have to take the Aviation/Nautical or the Supplement? I got my score back and the recuiter said I got a 39, which I guess isn't all that good. I didn't spend alot of time studying for it. I noticed that the study guides were a little outdated for the new tests. I asked the recuiter if all 6 parts of the test matter since I am going for supply and he said yes. I am really confused. The recuiter didn't say if the 39 was the overall score or the OAR score. Are those 2 different scores? Should I find out from the recuiter if I can take retake only the first 3 parts since I am applying for supply?

the OAR score is only comprised of the following sections:
math, verbal, mechanical

if you are applying to supply you only need to take those three sections. you need to tell your recruiter to read the test manual he is given to administer the test. it says explicity right in the test booklet, that if you are applying to supply only the first three sections of the test have to be taken. the others are not mandatory. get on your recruiter. thats what their job is. i am applying for supply. i took my test 2 months ago. i only took the math, verbal, mechanical sections. again tell your recruiter to read the manual.

and study more for the test next time. not to be rude but a 39 on the OAR is not competitive. practice makes perfect. goodluck.

Gryphon is correct. My recruiter only had me take the first three sections as well. Originally, I was going to apply for Intell and NFO which would have meant that I would have had to take the rest of my exam.

Since it was decided due to my age (30) and qualifications (mostly business) my best bet was to go straight Supply.

How long did it take for you to get your results?

My scores should be available any day now but with the chaos over at Pensacola, I shouldn't be surprised if it takes longer.
