ASTB locations in SC

Hey all, I heard that there's the ability to take the ASTB via computer. My question is this: my recruiter is in Columbia, SC which is three hours+ away from Charleston (where I'm at now for the summer with no car and no license.). My question is this: do I have to find a ride out to Columbia where the officer recruiting station is, to take the ASTB or can I take it at a "designated testing spot" here in Charleston? I asked my recruiter but he ignored my question and just asked when I can take it. Should I try to take it here or wait until I go back to school in NYC? I just want to take the thing and get it over with!

Thanks :)

I was in a similar situation. School's in Central NY, as was the recruiting station. I asked if I could take my ASTB in NYC where I'm staying for the summer.

It took a little while, but he(my recruiter) made it happen, so it's definitely possible for you to take it with a different recruiting station.

I lived in Charleston when I took the ASTB, and the nearest place to take it was at the recruiter's office in Columbia.

It is? Grr. Now comes another dilemma, should I then switch recruiters? I haven't met the guy I'm "with" now, we just spoke on the phone and he emailed me the application as well as the EPSQ. I don't want to blow off the guy but if I can't get there maybe I should just wait and take it up in NYC...

Just a thought:

You're in Charleston. Charleston's where the Citadel is right? The Citadel has a NROTC unit. Which means their aviation applicants have to take the ASTB too.
Why not find out if the Citadel cadets/midshipmen somehow take it in Charleston, and if they do, why not tell your recruiter about that opportunity, get the contact info, and ask him to arrange it?
