My scores are 8/7/6 (not sure if thats the right order) and a OAR of 55. Im not overly happy with the scores, but I know what areas I need to hit when I retake the test. I hope the Navy looks at the whole package rather than focus everything on the ASTB. Right now my recuiter said 65 OAR is min for SNA.
Math Section: Basic math and algebra, and some geometry (although not much on my test). Didn't see any calc or anything more advanced than that. A fair amount of word problems as well.
Verbal Section: All questions revolved around reading a paragraph and interpreting the information. This area was tricky for me because I hadn't studied much for it, and seemed harder than what I had done in the past. Most answers were right, but only one real right answer.
Mechanical Section: Most questions didn't require any calculations. Just required a basic knowledge of mechanics. The gouge was perfect for this section and helped a lot.
Aviation and Nautical Section: This section was cake for me being a Comm/Inst pilot, and the nautical info from the website on this site helped alot for basic boating info. For those not pilots I suggest getting a copy of the FAR/AIM if you have ample time to study, if not, get the Gleim Private Pilot Handbook (cover info for PPL knowledge test). All the info you need for most of the question would come right from there and it is all in outline format.
Aviation Supp. Section: Covered questions from all of the above mixed into one section.
Time is your biggest enemy hands down and thats what prevented me from doing better. I should have managed my time much better than I did. Time yourself to get a rough idea of how fast you can do certain questions etc.
The time goes by VERY fast ... skip any questions that take time and move on to easier questions and then go back.
