hey folks, i just took the astb for the first time and am not too sure how well i did. not that the minimum is a great goal or anything, but whats the minimum score needed to receive a air position in the USMC? also, did anyone else who took the ASTB not feel great about it or not finish a section or two by a few questions and still find that they did ok?

I was told the pass/fail score was about a 4-5-5. You should be able to obtain the results from your OSO in a week or two. I think there was a couple sections I didn't finish due to time constraints, but ended up just filling in random answers to finish out the section.
Even if you feel like you didn't do so well on this one, you'll still get two retakes.

I heard you need a minimum of 4,6,4 for the marines. That's what the selection board likes to see but anything higher will help you. They will also look at other things in your application so if you didn't do as well as you wanted to on a astb don't sweat it..........As for getting the results I took mine through naval headquarters back with I was thinking of going navy but just call the office that you took it and they should tell you when they have the results. Get in touch with an oso and they will help you get everything set up.

so, I took the astb and received a 5, 6, 6. Is that competetive enough. I also got a 240 pft with about a month of training? Is there a possibility to get into the PLC program with that?

NFO? no. SNA? not yet. FNG? yep.
I think I did well on mine...wouldn't know though, I took it 3 weeks ago and the results still aren't in :icon_rage

my OSO told me that to get a Marine Air slot that you need a 5/6/6 (which is luckily exactly what i scored).

As for a 240 PFT mserver i was told u need at least a 250 to be competitive. i got accepted with a 264

As much as I hate to admit this, the instructors are more impressed with pure physical ability than academics and leadership ability. I went to OCS (Seniors) with a measly 234 and had a tough time. I would have liked to train more, but I left for OCS a day after school got out. Anyway, there is still hope for you yet. Just never quit! Excel at everything else, and be someone that the others can look up to or ask for help with and you should do fine. I got a 7/8/8 on my ASTB but they would rather see a 300 PFT sometimes. Just push yourself and your instructors won't give up on you!
