ASTB STUDY ASSISTANCE

Okay here is it, I studied lets call it five solid days using the Barron Study Guide, reviews of this guide have been mixed both negative and positive. At the time of the test my membership to airwarriors.com had not been approved so I did not have access to the gouges. Lets just say my scores were terrible and obviously my study habits need improving. It seems the portion I struggled most with was the math, the time limit and the over all fact the I have been out of school for 10 years so Im rusty and could use some aides and resources anything to assist my old brain.

Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

I apologize in advance for any errors and typo's I was on my phone creating this thead

Study harder…work on the math as a first priority, I guess. The standards may "float"…but they are what they are. Use the "search" function for more specific resource recommendations.

Good luck. It's worth the effort….

There's a whole thread of ASTB gouge right here: linky.

I used both Barron's and Peterson's guides plus some of the guides created by other AW users like atrickpay. He pulled out his guide and put it in a new thread here: linky #2. Save that PDF to your phone and look at it every time you have a free minute.

Like you, I was pretty far removed from my last math class and spent the better part of 2 months prepping for the test with a primary focus on math and basic physics. What helped me most was getting the basics, like multiplication tables and long division, down cold so I wouldn't have to waste any mental effort on that part of the problem. From there, it just takes practice to convert word problems into algebra. I also highly recommend taking your practice tests under timed conditions - you lose the same amount of points for a blank or a wrong answer, so make sure you aren't spending too much time on any one problem.

I majored in business and if I could pull off a 65 OAR score, anyone can. Good luck on your second attempt!
