Hey everyone,

I am not planning on taking the ASTB until the end of July, but I have been and am currently studying on a regular basis. Aside from studying the gouge that is floating around, can anyone offer any other study tips that may be helpful. Can anyone who has already taken the test provide any insight that may help me when I go to take the test? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Test yourself periodically using TIMED practice tests. Use your math skills to figure out what your time limit should be based on how many questions there are in the practice test.

Basically the entire astb forum is good. Don't be afraid to post specific questions once you get through all of those threads.

And to add to above, timing yourself is the perfect way to simulate the pressure of the test, but it has to be with fresh problems from time to time. After I had seen a problem set about twice I was able to finish it in around half of the allotted time which felt good, but it wasn't doing any good.

In addition to the priceless info that can be found on airwarriors.com's threads, check out Arco's "Master the Military Flight Aptitude Tests" manual, which can be found in just about any bookstore i.e. Border's or Barns and Noble...it's includes practice tests for every service (Army, NAVY, AF, Marines, CG). In addition to just studying the material, it's great to emulate a live test..sit at a desk with scratch paper, simulate a nervous environment to an extent so that when the time comes to take your test you're used to it and won't be as nervous about it, allowing you to concentrate more easily.

I got pretty solid scores on the ASTB and got pro' recd for SNA. I used the arco test booklet and it may sound kind of odd but I actually used microsoft flight simulator 2004, not necessarily the flying parts but there are lessons on flight, physics and other stuff if you actually make use of the lessons. It was very useful because some of the questions on the test came up from the microsoft flight sim.

P.S. Good luck
