For pilot, my OSO told me that I could get a waiver as long as I was within a point for the ASTB. I scored a 5/5/4. Now I have read that the requirements are 4/6/4, 4/6/6, and even just that the first two are important. Does anybody have an accurate answer here?

If I am applying for pilot and only the 5/5 matter then I am within the waiver limit, otherwise I am screwed. Hmmmmmm.

Are you past the point where you can retake it (ASTB)? You could bump that five up with some studying no problem.

I would be allowed to retake one more time if need be (have taken it twice). If I am within the waiver range though my OSO said it will be fine. I just wasn't sure if that FOAR matters? I have heard it doesn't if I am going for Pilot. Just trying to clarify.

Yes my OSO told me that a couple of the aviation candidates did indeed get accepted to PLC-A this year with ASTB waivers. They Corps is in need of pilots this year, just make sure you get your packet in intime if you are going PLC!

I am going for OCC 190 actually. Just got off the phone with my OSO. 5/5/4 makes me eligible for a waiver :). Woo hoo. Next stop, flight physical..................

Let the fun begin...You might want to bring some sunglasses with you for after the eye dialation, or risk getting stuck with a pair of those sweet old lady wrap-arounds. Good luck, and congrats on the waiver.

It might, and it might not. But do you want to risk having to watch 12 hours of Headline News? I shudder at the thought...

Hey just so you guys know, there are 2 guys at TBS in A Co. that got their flight contracts dropped and were assigned ground MOSs. They had a "2-point waiver", or something like that. You better check with your OSO that this waiver stuff is legit and current, because the guys here thought there were good to go until the MATSG guys came up from Pensacola and told them otherwise. Just a thought.

The waiver is only supposed to be for 1 point I believe. If you have 5/5 instead of 6/6. How can I find out if it is legit? My OSO has put 3 guys through with waivers he said. Also, how can they just drop their flight contracts? I find that hard to believe. After all, it is a contract. If anything, they could drop the people from the Marines, but they couldn't force them into a ground contract.

I will ask around about that, but as far as I know those two guys became ground assignable. I know that it sounds shady, but don't ever say that they can't do something, because they can. The MATSG guys were asking who was taller than xxx, then they asked who had "two point waivers". When those guys raised their hands, they were like uh oh, you need to see us after the meeting. I dunno, it didn't happen to me. We are gonna be in the field all week but I will look into it and let you know. Just trying to watch out for ya. OSO's did a lot of things to get guys here, and some guys are leaving screwed, some as SupO's. Yut.
