Aviation guarantee?

I'm currently looking into the various programs all the services have to offer for recieving a commission. I was previously convinced that PLC from the Marines was the best there was, but then I found out about BDCP... Having an aviation guaranty is very important to me, as I wouldn't be able to stand my primary job to be flying a desk (I'm aware pilots get a lot of desk time too though.)

I'm 20, tranfering to UCSD as a junior in January planning to graduate in 2009 with a BS in MechEng. I've read that transfer students are generally not competitive but I took a few very challenging courses, and it wouldn't be a terrible big deal if I had to wait a couple of quarters to establish a reputation at UCSD anyway.

I've started my flight training in sailplanes, just like the good'ole days. I hope to get my power ppl by the end of next year.

After you get a semester from UCSD under your belt you shouldn't have a problem as a transfer student.

The Aviation community will reserve a spot specifically for you upon selection. While the community you get selected for will reserve you a spot before OCS, you should still mentally prepare yourself for the low possibility you won't be doing exactly what it is you want. From what I've seen, the aviation communities are very selective before and after initial selection. By that I mean you are given a chance to be a pilot, not a guarantee. **** happens you know. Needs of the Navy.

As a transfer student myself, I got selected for BDCP despite going to Community college my first two years of college. However, I did have to establish myself at JU for awhile before my application could be considered. But it worked out for me in the end. Gook luck. PM me if you have any other questions about the process, especially since you are a transfer student too.

State is the world's largest community college. Sometimes I can see the haze of marijuana smoke lingering about the campus and notice a perceptible drop in my IQ when I'm near. You grammar geniuses be nice - it's the holidays.
