Aviation program confusion

Hello all, I am new to this site, so if this is in the wrong spot, just let me know. I know this question has been asked a bunch of times, but I keep reading conflicting answers. Today, I just spoke with a recruiter about the aviation program and he told me that for a pilot, the vision requirement is 20/400, correctable to 20/20 and you need to have contacts. At first this seemed crazy because it was pretty bad eyesight, but he repeated that this was the case. I'm just really confused about what the right answer is. Also, he mentioned that there is no requirement for flight officers. Once again, I'm just trying to get my facts straight before I get my hopes up. Thanks to all responders.

SNAs need 20/40 correctable to 20/20. NFOs have much less stringent requirements when it comes to vision...

I should have specified that I went to a Marines recruiter and he said that the policy was recently changed. I also just checked the NOMI website and it said that it is 20/400 for SNA's. Does this mean that the Navy is allowing 20/400 as well? It seems that the more I read, the more questions I need to ask.

NOMI is God... if the site says 20/400, then it must be so. Maybe some of the seasoned, salty veterans here can fill us in.

I think that my question has been answered. Regardless, I'm really interested in becoming an NFO, so it wouldn't ruin me if I wasn't qualified for pilot because of my vision. Thanks again.

Unless this has changed, the requirement is no worse than -8.0 diopters. To give you an idea, I wasn't qualified for NFO because of my sweet -9.0 diopters (I looked through my medical record and was recorded at 20/800, boo-yah). Also, if you're outside the NFO limits, PRK won't help you, because your pre-op has to be within -8.00.

Seeing how there was no way to lat xfer into aviation, I said phuck it, and got Lasik.
