Aviation Selection Test Battery

It has been a while since I've studied the basic mathematics and arithmetic that I am going to be tested on. Anyone with tips on the best way to refresh my memory, your help is greatly appreciated.

So what's broken on this jet today, Chief?
None
There's a test prep book for all the aviation entrance exams, from Arco. It's title is "Military Flight Aptitude Tests 4th Edition" I used it and it helped give an idea of what the questions would be like. I didn't think the basic math was that bad, though. The ISBN is 0-02-863544-2

Michael,

Welcome to the site. My advice is use the Search function in the upper right corner of the site. There is an entire subforum on the ASTB.

I guarantee you you'll find the info you're seeking.

I was linked to this book and it seems pretty handy, but I've yet to take the real exam, so I don't know how good it is (I can let you know in 2 weeks)

Hit the read link, set up an account and you can open the book online. Saving is convoluted, but doable - in your browser, hit file and 'save page as' - then put it somewhere convenient and once it has saved there, double click it to open - it should be in a regular adobe window that you can save it in PDF format from.
GL on the test!

Also, if you're looking for extra stuff to study for the math sections go to the book store, in the study guides section you'll find study guides and review books for math. I bought one of these before taking my test and it was a big help, you're looking for something that covers algebra, geometry, and a little bit of trig.

Here's what I did...studied for two weeks over the Marine study guide on this site (there is an entire sub-forum dedicated to the ASTB). I also took the practice test in the ARCO book and took lots of notes. I went through an entire legal pad of mathematical scribblings. My roommate's girlfriend is basically a genius and she helped me with the fuzzy math I hadn't done since 9th grade. It's basic stuff, but if you are a little rusty it can trip you up. My biggest piece of advice: STUDY ON THE CLOCK meaning time yourself. This test is timed and you basically have a minute per question. It varies a little, but just be able to do the math and mechanical problems as quickly as possible. I got a 6/7/6 56, which is decent. Middle of the road, but still competitive with the rest of my package. Best of luck.

Yea the 9th grade math is definately what's annoying me most. I can remember it being so simple then, and now it's like I'm lost. Thanks for all the advice
