When I saw the thread title, I thought you were talkin' about wooden snowshoes, wooden ski's, and CWEST on Mt. Baker .... but:
We've got most of our CV stuff from the Brits over the decades ... some of the early developments were quite interesting.

The Battle Cruiser to Carrier transition was a popular one...
Must have been fun to be on the deck-spotting crew back then!
But not so much fun to bolter . . . that's when EGTL was a GOOD thing!
