Hi,

I was looking at possible going for NUPOC or Information Warfare, and the recruiter said I would have to go through a background check. How picky are they about background?
My parents are both naturalized citizens, but they still have citizenship with their old countries. I was born here, but I am also a Canadian citizen through my father. I am really interested in becoming a naval officer, and I hope that these factors won't get in the way.

Having non-native born parents does complicate the clearance process, but isn't really that big a deal. You will have to renounce your Canadian citizenship in order to receive a commission though.

My good friend passed a background check and his dad lives and is from Saudi Arabia. He was born there and had a dual citizenship. If he can pass, I think you can.

what is it that they EXACTLY looking for when they do a bakground. I know they are looking to see if you have been in trouble with the law but what else?
