BAH based on NRD?

I was informed today that my BAH would be based on my NRD not my residence (for school), or home of record. That seemed odd to me. Is that normal for everyone else?

to the best of my knowledge, not true. Your BAH is based on your "duty station" which for us BDCP bubbas, is our school address, since we are "on orders" to go to school. When you filled out your home of record, etc etc sheet for pay information, your current school address should be what they calculate your BAH with.

what if you go to school on-line? And u live in VA and school is in FL?

Then it should be where you physically are. If they are paying you for housing, why would they pay you rates for florida if you live in VA? This is the way my recruiter explained it to me, so I'm pretty sure it's how it works.

Yea that makes sense...
He said it would be based on the NRD (San Diego), instead of where I live (Los Angeles). Is this an issue to bring up with the recruiter or does it even matter to talk to him about it? Isn't there someone else in charge of pay issues?

Do you have a chain of command right now? I would guess no, so the recruiter would be the place to start. If he doesn't know, he will refer you on to someone who does.

The Navy works in mysterious ways - I live in Georgia right now, but am getting BAH for Indiana where neither my family nor my belongings live. It is legit, and just the way it worked out (I'm losing like $5 per mo, so its not a big deal).

If you're feeling particularly industrious, you can look it up here. Otherwise I will try and remember to check next time I'm digging through that publication.

just a guess, but maybe the BAH for BDCP collegiates depends on the school. For instance Embry-Riddle is VERY well known to the Navy so it is probably recognized as a legit duty station and I get pay according to prescott. Maybe your school isn't as well known to the Navy so they just go off your NRD. I have no clue. It probably isn't a huge deal, but I'd ask your recruiter.
