BAH Question

My wife is submitting her app this month. If selected, will she keep her BAH while she is in OCS since we are dual active duty? I claim the kid on my page 2. I sure hope so, because that's about 900 bucks I really don't feel like losing for three months.

She should keep her BAH given your dual status, but talk to PSD about the specific rule. The question is how to arrange it so that you maximize what you get. I haven't looked at the charts recently, but you ought to coordinate with PSD so that you get whatever rate is higher. She may (emphasize may) be able to draw the Whidbey rate while she's in OCS/training, which is higher than the Pensacola rate.

deployment sucks
i'm not sure about while at ocs specifcally, but once in the fleet, since you have the kid on your page 2, you'll continue to receive w/ dependent BAH, but she'll only receive the single rate.

actually, now that i think about it, the last they told us at NMCRS was that while deployed (but this is tdy, so don't know if it's the same), the servicemember without the child will not receive bah.

would you consider switching the kid to her p. 2? then you'd receive whidbey single, and she'd receive pensacola w/ dependent?

At least you never have to worry about him going home with your wife - I think he's pissed off every wife in the Navy and Marine Corps!
