Barron's Study books

So I had recently gone to my library and checked out the Barron's Officer Candidate School Tests book. The book was published in 06 but was wondering if anyone used this book compared to the Barron's Military Flight Aptitude Tests book (which I have). I was comparing the practice tests and it seems they are both different on each book. Each book has two practice tests. Also, the Barron's OCS book has practice questions on it for each section ( math, mechanical, reading). I know from my experiences that Barron's book have A LOT OF errors on their answer sections. My question is am I better off ditching the OCS book and just use the one I own (MFAT book)? the MFAT book has question that closely relate to the ASTB when i took it. or just use it to do more practice?

Anyone used the Learning Express books or the CLiffnotes book and their thoughts on it?

Thank You.

I can't answer your first question but DO NOT use the cliffnotes book. It is full of errors. I bought it cheap because a local book store was going out of business and figured I would use it. After working some problem sections it became apparent that there were many mistakes in the book. If you haven't already, be sure to get some of the files off of this website; they are very helpful.

yeah i already have most of the files: Atrickpay's, the Marine gouge, Astb test prep, arco book, Barron MFAT book, Learning Express (kinda far out there compared to the actual test) and just bought the Officer candidates Tests for dummies book as well. On top of that i have other algebra study guides with practice problems. My last attempt will be on Form 4

I just took test 4 on Tuesday and I can tell you that specific test kicked my ass. It was also the first time I took the test and did okay, not great but okay. The mechanical section dealt more with forces using Newtons. Watch out with the Reading test, there were a few questions that were very short, with what seemed like randomly selected answers. How were the other tests? I am trying to figure out how different the tests are from each other.

Hey Pat,

did you take the test on paper or on the comp? I posted my response for taking form 3 back in Oct of 2011. If you search for it under my username it should show up. I thought I did better on form 3 than I did on 5. I scored better but not that much. I went from a 38/2/3/3 to a 42 4/4/4. So form 4 is my next form. Here in NRD San Diego, they are still using the paper version.

I just bought the OCS book for dummies. was that book valuable to you?

the materials i have are: Arco officer candidates test, barons MFAT, Learning Express: Oficer candiates test, atrickpays study guide, the marine gouge, the astb test prep, as well as some random practice algebra problems i googled online.

I took the computer version, as for the OCS book for dummies, I felt they did a better job at explaining the math portions. The science wasn't too bad but the book didn't go too far into detail about force and jewls, and Newtons. I have a few of those books and I got a 4/5/6 43 on the test. Good luck to you and thank you
