I can't speak from API experience, obviously, but I've done my fair share of boating in P-cola. It's definitely worth the hassle of bringing the boat along, barring any restrictions of course. There are some beautiful places to fish and dive.

definitely bring it. And if you need a dive buddy... I would be willing to sacrifice my time :)

You'll have access to the dry slips on base which aren't badly priced at all.

Also, depending on the size of the boat, it and the trailer can be considered HHG and you get paid for the weight of it for DITY moves. Not sure on the cutoff size. But that's a lot of weight for not a lot of effort of loading for a full DITY or partial DITY.

I used my boat like a U-Haul when I moved once. Loaded the cabin full of my crap, put the dirtbike in the back of the truck and moved that way.

+1 on this.

The US Government BOUGHT my friend a boat. It's pretty simple:

He bought boat. Got PCS orders afterward. The move profited him the cost of his boat due to the excess weight of his boat being paid for.

You can also get over to Fort Pickens really easy which is a cool place, especially at midnight while you have been imbibing some beverages with good friends...

Ditto on all the other advice. But with the new policies, will he get paid at all for a DITY move?

Bring the boat. There's all kinds of trouble you can get into in the Greater P'cola Metroplex with that thing.

Good luck getting that HHG overweight money.

Bring it, you won't regret it, I got pait over 2k for towing my 17 whaler from annapolis, got lucky enough to find a nice place on the intercoastal and I used it every day for skiing and fishing while in a pool, haven't used it in the last 2 weeks much, started api and all, but i'm sure there will be more downtime later
