It looks like I'll be headed to Pensacola for API in early July. I had planned on going geo bachelor and living in the barracks, but I'm hearing that the barracks is full. Can anyone give any insight to this? Will I get anything extra to live out in town if no quarters are available? Thanks.

If you are geo baching it, you will get BHA for where you family is and then get per diem for Pensacola. I think its around $120.00 a day. I did the same a couple years ago and the per diem was $100.00 a day.

Even if it is full, they'll just stick you on a waiting list for a permanent room and then put you in transient quarters. You pay like $3-$5 a day for maid service, no more. I waited about a month to get my apartment in the BOQ.

I'm just looking for some recomendations as far as if I should live in the BOQ or if I should try and get an apartment offbase. I would definetly prefer to live offbase but I don't know how long I'm gonna be in Pcola and since I don't have to do IFS does it make sense any sense to live off base if I'm just going to have to move to Corpus or live up at Whiting in the BOQ there.
Also if you live in the BOQ what are you suppose to do with all of your stuff?

If you live in the Q, the Navy will store your stuff for you. You can live off base at Pcola, but just be sure to get a short lease. It will probably take you awhile to class up, since people who got here in November still haven't classed up yet. Don't think you'll only be at Pcola for a 2 months.
