Buddy System???

GO STATE!!!
My cousin and I are both planning to go into the navy as officers when we graduate with our master's degrees. He wants to go Public Affairs and I want to go SNFO. I haven't ever heard of a "buddy system" for OCS but I was wondering if there is any possible way to get the same OCS date?

Absolutely. Plenty of people get the same OCS date all the time. Granted, I'm sure most of them don't know each other though.

I know what you're asking and would have to say that the best thing for you guys to do is to submit your applications together and see what your recruiter can do for you. If you were both going to be seeking the same designator, it would probably be easier. However, Public Affairs slots are not nearly as plentiful as SNFO so he may end up attending OCS long after you're commissioned. Just the way it is. Doesn't hurt to ask though.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, those are our first picks, but we can be flexible as far as designators go. We mainly want to be officers before anything else. The specific deisgnator is no big deal. We just thought it would be kinda cool to have someone from home going with you to OCS.

Well, the question here is what's more important: having the same OCS date, or how you're going to spend the next 4 (PAO) to 8 (NFO) years of your life?

Oh I understand your point ThisGuy. If we don't get the same OCS date, it won't be the end of the world. We'll gladly go regardless of when, it was just an idea we had that we thought might be a possibility. By the way, does anybody out there have any good info on how much a master's degree can help an OCS package?

No Matter what, if A classes up before B, simply fail a couple of evolutions (and continue to fail) until B catches up, then you are home free. This solves one problem and creates a whole host of other ones.
