So they cancelled IFS for the SNFO here at TBS. They told us we are just going to start API. Is this going on in the Navy too? Anyone know why they cancelled it? In addition is it going to hurt us in API?

It won't hurt you at API. The two programs don't have much to do with one another.

Same thing happened this time two years ago. At the time, we really needed SNFOs to start training so people who checked in during that time were shoved right into API. Don't worry, NAs/NFOs went through API for decades without having done IFS, so it's not the end of the world if you don't get to do it.
Sounds like maybe MATSG is all caught up and needs some live bodies to feed into API ASAP. I'm sure it will back up again when the summer companies graduate TBS. Word I heard was that they were trying to get everyone started in API by June 1st.
Not having IFS won't hurt you, but a lot of the FR&R class was a review from what they taught at Masassas. It was nice to hear something familiar.

MATSG was at TBS yesterday for the MAGTF mixer. We were specifically told that NFO's are still on the hook for IFS. The pool is starting up again with about 100 Marines from Alpha and 50 or so Bravo Marines graduating within a few weeks of eachother. Estimated API start date: October. As if that means anything.
