Chances of getting into Navy OCS?

Hello all,

I have been lurking around in this forum for a while and I just could not help but ask this question.

I am graduating from Georgia Tech with a Mechanical Engineering degree and a minor in International Affairs. My GPA is low. It is 2.6 but the school I go to is infamous for having a low GPA and it is ranked 3rd in the nation for Mechanical Engineering. I have also been working 20+ hours every week throughout my college career to support me and my family.
As for leadership and such, I am the founder and President of a club in my university, I am the founder and was the manager of a community service program in my area, I have two undergraduate research experiences, I have participated in a design competition and became a campus finalist, and I have a provisional patent. I have worked at and managed a retail store my family owns, I have worked as a tutor, and I have worked at the campus student center.

I have started my application process and now I am studying hard for the ASTB.

Now, back to the question, what do you think my chances of getting in are? Thank you for your inputs.

The first rule of Airwarriors is "We don't guess what your chances are."

What designator are you going for? If aviation, you should nail the ASTB. 2.6 is not good, but we can't say much more without knowing what job you want to do.

You've done a lot of stuff, but someone looking at your application might see you as having less than stellar time management skills (although you are at least supporting family) and that your grades suffered from it. The boards really don't care where you went to school. I've seen people with degrees from online schools all the way though some top tier stuff go through there.

Board members view what you have said above as excuses, a person that has sat boards told me when seeing statements in conjunction with GPA issues she would say about the person, shouldn't have worked so much, this person can't manage time, this person might need to look at priorities, maybe should have taken a lighter course load.

LFCFan said it, you need to nail the ASTB to have a chance, that is if you are going for aviation, anything else would be a very long shot.
