Changing Major Issue

Here's the deal. I am a freshman at ASU and started off being a Math major. And then I woke up. I am changing to mechanical Engineering (which is not easier but more interesting to me) at the end of the semester when I am allowed and have enough credits to deem me competent. Right now I am in the process of applying for a PLC aviation contract and having problems with the classes that I have to take in my next three years. Taking the classes that I need is not a problem until my senior year when the two classes that I need will be an issue(I will call the A class and B class). The A class is only held in fall and the B class is held only in spring and I am currently going to be a semester behind for the major required courses.

Upon completing my other courses I am eligible to take the A class during my senior year during the spring semester (which isn't offered then). After that semester is when I should have graduated from college (May 2010) and accepted commissioned but I will have a deficiency of two courses for my degree which will take two more semesters to finish. I have talked to my adviser and he told me that is my only option.

My first question is if I get accepted this summer and complete PLC training and then go to the 2nd training after my junior year will they let me change my graduation date to May of 2011 instead of May 2010?

That would be an extra year and I was thinking that this would be unacceptable.

My 2nd question is should I just continue training and just get another year out of the way and then apply next year when I will have the total credits as a sophomore but say that I am a freshmen because of the two problematic courses?

sorry if it sounds complicated

plenty of engineers take more than 4yrs to finish college. talk to your recruiter about your situation.
