Changing OCS Date

I had a major brain fart when I put down my availability date on my OCS app. I listed 7/01/06 because, for as long as I have been on this board, it seems like people were getting placed in OCS classes at least several months after their final select date. My recruiter is now telling me that, since I'm an 07 guy, I may go as soon as July. My package is going to the next final select board, so I really don't want to stir the pot right now. However, it would be huge for me if I could get my date pushed back to a post-Sept date so that I can finish a couple classes and go on some trips that I've already sunk some money into. I've spoke to my recruiter, but he doesn't sound too sure about the possibility of getting it changed.

Has anyone on here succeeded in pushing back their class date, and how did they go about doing it? Is there a risk of negative consequences (losing your class altogether, etc.)?

What do you mean finish a couple of classes??? and an 07? 2007? I'm 2006 and I'm going in July (15th as it is right now) Personally I would do as little as possible to potentially aggreviate the board.

Why do you feel you need it? I understand vacation before hand but time to take unnessary classes I don't think the board would agree to that, unless it could potentially help you with your job.

As far as the Minor goes, I just won't have the chance to get it again. The limit is six months after graduation for finishing up extra classes.

Like I said, its more a combination of things like the Oshkosk, Reno Air Race, Hawaii, and Costa Rica trips I put money into/commited to (I planned out one hell of a last summer).

In the end, it's my fault, and it was my stupid mistake. However, if there is a way, I want to get on it as soon as possible.

I had the same ready date listed on my package as you did and I had my date changed post final select, however this was due to the fact that my school cancelled the last class I needed to graduate for my B.S. and I now have to attend summer term. My recruiter was very helpful with it and had no problems changing the date. In my experience the earlier you can let them know your situation the better. My .02 cents...

I just figured that, since I've waited to do this for about 21 years, it might be wise to be patient and get done now what can't be done later. What's a couple of more months when I've waited this long? However, I chose the what, but the when and the where is up to the Navy. Beggars can't be choosers, I'm over it. I just want to get the motherf*ckin' show on the road already.

I'm am still on cloud nine from the news of my pro rec though.....
