So I reported for OCS this morning and when I got to King Hall I was told to come back tommorrow?? My orders say to report Saturday the 17th before 1100 hours. Is this normal or is Newport still working the bugs out?

And anyone tell me where exactly the Seawall is? According to the map they gave me at King Hall it's a disused gate at the end of the base (by the two carriers). Is it the gate or farther down? The map wasn't exactly to scale.

Just roll with it and go back tomorrow. Believe me--OCS isn't a place you should be in a hurry to get into. Enjoy a nice quiet, peaceful meal tonight for last time in nine weeks...

Only 9 weeks? At this rate, by the time I get out, you will show up, Pass PRT, get sworn in and sit in Knife/Fork school for 3 weeks and be done!

Combating TIP training AGAIN?!
May I suggest Yesterdays in downtown Newport for a quiet, kick ass last meal?

Yes, the seawall is just an empty gravel parking area down by the carriers. When you go back tomorrow there should be signs pointing you there.

OCS is still 13 weeks I hope!!! For the original poster, your recruiter should have told you that you don't need to be there till Sunday, all classes start on Sunday, and I would advise not to be the guy who gets there at 0800 Sunday morning...you don't want to be the first person there, and you dont want to be the last either!!! I showed up around 1015...and it still sucked just as much...why start the pain early!!!

Of course OCS isn't only nine weeks. But if we assume that you don't roll, then in nine weeks you'll be a Candi-o and a) nobody will mess with you when you eat anymore, and b) you should have liberty whenever you want, making for peaceful dining at will... Before that nine-week mark, all bets are off.

The paper I received when I got to King Hall said to be there at 0800 and no later. I don't want to be there first, but I don't want to be the one who shows up late and catches the sh*t for it either.

Next time don't take that kind of crap from them! Tell them to get their shit together. "My orders say before 1100, I'm here before 1100, AND I DEMAND SATISFACTION, DAMMIT!" Make sure they know that you will be an officer soon and it wouldn't hurt them to salute you once in a while.

Good luck meat.

PS In the Navy, we don't say 1100 hrs, we just say 1100.

I feel like such a mentor.

He's probably already wishing that he hadn't spent his last day of freedom whining on AW about how they wouldn't let him start the pain early...:)
