Im applying NFO 184. I was just wondering, for NFO and NA, how do you track to different aircraft(helo and jet)? How do you or the Marines make selections? If I really want to go for f/a-18... what do I have to do throughout training? What are the most competitive aircraft to get into?

Praying to get in 184

Well you have about a 50% chance of getting F-18s and about a 50% chance of getting EA-6Bs because those are the only two platforms that require NFOs in the Marines. There are more hornets but they only need one NFO, Prowlers need 3.

On the NFO forum, i just posted results from my selection. Don't listen to random statistics like stated above, it has a lot more to do than straight numbers.
All Marines go through VT-4 or VT-10 for primary and intermediate and go to VT-86 for advanced. After a couple academic test, 7 flights, and 5 sims, you select. Your NSS,( kinda of like GPA) is computed after just those grades. Your NSS's from primary and intermediate don't matter. You'll only get Hornets if you have about a 50. Right now it seems that everyone gets what they want, but i've heard that at certain times, the numbers are different.
Good luck.

Congrats on the Prowler Pat1. What I would do to be in your shoes but well deserved I'm sure. Any stats on pilots and assigned aircrafts?
