Ok so here is the deal. At my unit I was issued chocker whites my freshman year. We used to wear them once a year for a parade but now we only wear them for comissioning. I went to try on my chokers the other day and they definatly do not fit. Im wondering weather it would be worth it to buy the new chocker top or just to borrow it from another mudn for comissioning. Its like 140 bucks and im pretty sure I wont wear it again until i get winged...correct? What do you guys think. How often will i wear them. When was the last time you guys wore them.

Dude, it's something you'll wear for your COMMISSIONING and WINGING. Pretty important events, at least I should hope you would think so.

You will take a TON of pictures that you will have forever.

Think about how many weddings you'll end up wearing them for.

Why not buy a nice set that fit properly and look good? Fork over the cash and buy a full set. Mixing and matching can lead to two shades of white (or yellow).

and as always...I will submit to the man and recommend Abbott's choker whites. everything else there is a rip off, but those chokers are worth every penny.

Yeah, depends on your community, but I end up wearing them at least a couple times per year. Between Prowler Ball, dinings out and changes of command, it pays to have a good set.

I totally agree with zab that abbotts is a rip, EXCEPT for their newly commissioned officer deal. 1k and you get both dress uniforms, thier SDBs are just as nice as the whites and the khakis while not as durable as the exchange are more comfortable (that and after API you are only going to wear them for watch (even that is a maybe)). YOu also get summer white (never worn them and hope to keep it that way.)

I bought the package and have never regretted it... that being said, I WOULD never buy khakis from them again without it being part of the package.

Well, the Sergeant Majors need to have chokers so they can go to the Dinings Out before their court-martials ;)
Thank you. ;)

Hell, we wear summer whites (not chokers) for winging.

Though we did wear chokers for change of command...

It's nice to get a good pair though. Gets mad play at the Navy Ball :p

I like the look of the chokers (got married in them), but they sure do get dirty!

You weren't supposed to wear them for the entire honeymoon, too.
