Why are you asking on here and not your command?

Food for thought...

Because the command hasn't given out that information yet...given that obviously noone could give him a good answer for this year but could give examples of past years.

Echo - that period is ENTIRELY dependant on what section of training you are on and what command you fall under. As for API, only word I heard was you get basically 2 weeks but nothing on dates...

I'll make a guestimate for you on the leave periods

1st leave period Dec 19 - 28
2nd leave period Dec 28 - Jan 9

That's about what you'd expect in the fleet, but I have no real idea what it's like here. They may even start it and end it mid week to give everyone right at 2 weeks.

LT H put out the leave periods this morning, but I didn't really write it down so I can't help with that. I just wanted to help some people understand some basic leave policies because there is some bad gouge going around.

Regardless of what you may have been told, If you check in or out on leave on a Saturday or Sunday, you are not charged for that day. Someone told me that an Ensign in flight management told them that Saturdays and Sundays are charged and this is wrong. If you check out on leave at 0001 on Saturday, then Saturday is not charged as a day of leave. If you check in from leave at 2359 on Sunday, then Sunday is not charged as a day of leave. The exception to this rule is if you check in AND out on a weekend, then one or the other will be charged.

The other thing is working hours. You write your working hours on your leave chit and PSD looks at those hours, and what time you checked out, to determine what day to begin charging your leave. API's working hours are 0730 to 1600. If you check out between those hours, you will be charged for that day.

Just keep these in mind whenever you're checking in and out on leave to save yourself some days. If your leave chit starts at 1600 on Friday and you check out at 1600, you'll be charged for Saturday. But if you're still going to be in the area, drive up to the API building at 0001 and check out then and you won't be charged for Saturday. Same thing on the other end. If your leave ends at 0730 on Monday morning, but you're back on Sunday night, go ahead and check in then to save yourself from being charged for Sunday.
